I've got a wildcard up my sleeve

NBA Futures (as of 12/11, VegasInsider.com)

If I was a gambling man…

  • Miami Heat - 5/2 (second-time around for LBJ and Wade, the continuity has to be better, adding better pieces as we speak.  Why haven’t the Heat been dangling CB3 out there?)
  • Chicago Bulls - 13/2 (the addition of Rip seems a certainty, I would jump all over this)
  • Dallas Mavericks - 8/1 (Adding LO is a huge windfall for them (Thanks LA!), losing Chandler also big.  Losing JJB?)
  • Memphis Grizzlies - 35/1 (assuming they re-sign the younger Gasol, which looks certain, I like this pick for value, for obvious reasons.  See last season. I like the addition of McRoberts and dropping Mayo, if they can pull it off)
  • Detroit Pistons - 200/1 (because I am a die-hard fan, and that is the only reason)

Hmmmmm?

  • Los Angeles Lakers - 11/2 (another year for Kobe’s legs, the worst starting PG in the league, a garbage coach in Mike Brown, lost LO, Metta World Peace’s identity issues, still one of the favorites to win it all? There must be a ton of idiot Lakers fans out there betting this to win it all if Vegas has this line so favorable. That or Vegas knows that the Lakers are getting D12. If the Lakers can get D12 and Billups I can see them winning in spite of Mike Brown’s ineptness)
  • Oklahoma City Thunder - 7/1 (my biggest concern is the Rusty/KD35 relationship has gone sour and whether or not Harden will finally get the start over Thabo)
  • Los Angeles Clippers - 75/1 (If they add CP3 without losing Gordon, this is a darkhorse pick for value alone, assuming you throw a few bucks down with current odds. Even with CP3 they shouldn’t come close to a ‘ship, but in a shortened lockout season, who knows?  I like that they would lose the boneheadedness that is Chris Kaman, should the CP3 deal go through)
